Mark Richins began his formal music career at Brigham Young University-Idaho. There he studied piano performance with Dr. Stephen Thomas, piano pedagogy with Dr. Stephen Allen and piano collaboration with Dr. Michael McQuay. He had personal coachings by Kendal Feeney and John Bloomfield from the Golandsky Institute. He uses the Taubman approach actively, teaching a technique that is both injury preventative, provides ease of access and is musical at the same time. He received a Masrer of Music degree in Music Therapy at Illinois State University which included private voice instruction with Professor John Koch. Mark Richins loves teaching and is careful to match the pacing of each lesson with the needs of each individual. He has taught at the Love Family Piano Studio, in Rexburg, ID, the Music Academy at Metcalf School in Bloomington, IL and currently teaches independently in Fort Wayne, IN.
Mark Richins stays involved with the Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM). He is also involved with the American Music Therapy Association and anticipates becoming a Board Certified-Music Therapist in early 2020. Students have enjoyed active participation in local piano festivals and competitions.
Mark is available to teach adapted music lessons for those with unique learning styles. Mark Richins graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho as a Bachelor of Musical Arts and from Illinois State University as a Master of Music in Music Therapy. |
